Last week end was the start of our fourth baseball season here in Washington, and this year we couldn’t have asked for a better day! The morning was just a bit chilly, but not too bad, long sleeve shirts, but jackets were not necessary.
Little Reese (who I am still trying to talk into letting us call him Goose) is on the same team as last year, Ironbirds, and the same players are on the team as well. About half of the team has been together for the past three years and that has been nice. They all know each other and I think they are more supportive of each other than they would be if it was a new team each year. Our coach is awesome, and the parents all seem to work together very well. It is also loads of fun to watch them all grow and change, and even their siblings grow up. We have never lived somewhere long enough to do that, really.
After the game was over, we hung out for about thirty minutes and then it was time for opening ceremonies – really silly the way they do it, and I really see it as more of a way for our little league president to pat himself on the back in front of everyone, but hey, this year it was a gorgeous day, so it wasn’t so bad.
It seems like it has been cold and rainy forever! But, this day was beautiful!! It ended up to be 83 degrees and the bluest skies we had seen in a while!
But then, all good things must come to an end…
